What is a contingency fee?

When a law firm takes a sexual abuse case, they typically do so on contingency. That means you pay nothing upfront. The firm covers all costs, which can be considerable, and only receives payment if they win your case. If the case does not win, you do not repay the firm. You are not billed by the hour. There is no financial risk to you in pursuing a civil claim.

 

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Bird Dynamics shares the facts of your situation with a firm, not your name. Your identity remains protected until you decide to move forward.

 

Does Bird Dynamics provide legal advice?

No. Bird Dynamics is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We connect survivors with attorneys who are experienced in sexual abuse cases. Any legal advice will come from the firm you are connected with.

 

What happens after a firm accepts my case?

Bird Dynamics will facilitate the necessary paperwork for you to hire the law firm and is prepared to answer questions about the documents. After you have signed with a law firm, you will work directly with that firm and no longer with Bird Dynamics. Your legal team will need to review facts you shared so far and have more detailed conversations with you. That is not a reflection of doubt. It is how attorneys build the strongest possible case for you.

 

What if I already spoke to a lawyer and was turned down?

Please still submit. A rejection from one firm is not a rejection from all firms. Different firms have different areas of focus and different capacity at different times. Bird Dynamics works with firms that specialize specifically in sexual abuse cases and may be a better fit.

 

What if I am not sure my abuse was connected to an institution?

Submit your information and let us assess it. Many survivors are not sure whether their situation could involve an institutional defendant. That is exactly what the intake process is designed to help determine.

 

Do I need to complete the form in one sitting?

Yes. The form does not save your progress so please set aside a few quiet minutes before you begin. You can stop at any time, but you will need to start again if you close the form before submitting.
